11. Avery asked: Can executive power be peace power? Due Fri the 9th

Read pages 234-253 in the textbook. Take notes about John Adams' contributions that would support his nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize. Then begin to compare and contrast all four leaders you have studies in the chapter. For this web log entry write about which of the leaders you would nominate and why?

John Adams widely contributed to the good of the nation. For various reasons he should have a nomination for the Noble Peace Prize. These reasons include: He tried to seek peace with France 2 times,he didn't give into peer presure with giving into war with France. Also, he got France to sign a peace treaty and fired the two members of his cabinet that went against him and had the American and French ships fight in the Carribean. For these reasons alone, I think he should have a nomination for the Noble Peace Prize.
In this chapter I read about John Adams,George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton. They all had diverse opinions on how they thought the country should be run. Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton created a rivalry because they both had two different thoughts on how the construction of the Constitution. Jefferson thought that the country should be run by the people and Hamilton thought that the people should have a small fraction of the power and we should have a ruler also. George Washington had John Adams as his Vice President. Washington was the first President to meet with his cabinet members and to set up courts.

I would like to nominate Thomas Jefferson. Like the situation of the national debt. Hamilton wanted to pay the foreign debt and also the bonds. But then he said we should not pay will money for the bonds and start disegreements for the bondholders. Thomas Jefferson was right, this idea cheated the bondholders who sold their bonds to a lower price. Jefferson said that the wealth was stolen from the poor and ignorant. But more people chose on Hamiltons side, because it gains money for the US. Many of the disegreements are from Hamilton, and Jefferson. Like the example of the debt, Jefferson and Hamilton argued the most on how to construct the goverment. Jefferson fought, and said that people and only people should rule the land. And Hamilton just says that people have the small fraction of the rulers power and needs a ruler.

The Nobel Peace Prize; an award that people famous, young, or old, have searched to get. Every year, this pacifist-like award has made people seek and change the world in many ways. John Adams is a nominee in my opinion. He was a past president who tried to be like the precedent George Washington. The first task he had was of improving the relationship with the US and France. Adams expanded the army with 30 and more ships, but he wanted this to be a peacetime army. Like the award, he acted like a pacifist, since he didn’t want any unnecessary fighting, and congress approved of this. The cost would be too high, and there would be too many problems. Adams tried to reopen peace talks with France, no matter the intense pressure that’s focused on him. He even sent a representative to Friday to talk and end fighting, and so they eventually signed a treaty.
I read about a few leaders, John Adams, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton. All excellent leaders, picking nominations are hard. These leaders all worked for the future of the states, and thought of running it in their own very different ways. Two people who competed in a rivalry for their sense of government were Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton. But in this case I would go with the first president we ever had, George Washington. He was one of the best leaders for the states, since many people respected him, and he lead and made every work he did with precision and good decisions. If he didn’t say that he wanted to leave early, everyone would’ve kept voting for his guidance.

In the chapter that I read it was about John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, and Alexander Hamilton. They each had different ideas on how the country should be governed. Thomas Jefferson believed that the nation should be run by the people. Alexander Hamilton believed that the people should only control a small part of the government and that we should have a ruler. This therefore created a rivalry. George Washington somewhat agreeing with John Adams ideas made him vice president.
I believe for various reasons John Adams should be nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize. The reason behind this is because he contributed greatly to the good of the nation. He tried to seek peace with franc two times and was against going to war with France. He fired the two members of his cabinet, which went against him and had French and American ships battle in the Caribbean. He also had France sign a peace treaty.

I would like to nominate John Adams for the Nobel Peace Prize. I think out of all 4 leaders, he deserves this prestigious award. That doesn't make him a better leader of the other 3, but his achievements earned him the award because it introduced peace more than the others, which this reward is all about. This includes the great ruler George Washington, his predecessor. What he did was create peace between America and France. There was tension and many thought another war was going to break out. But surprisingly John Adams our president did not declare war. Even after being pressured by others to engage France, and after 2 members ( who were later removed ) tried to intervene with this attempt at peace, he still strove for his goal for compromise. This proved to be successful as he sent a representative to negotiate a treaty that benefited both. He saved many lives and a lot of money by doing this, which is why he should receive the Nobel Peace Prize.

I think that John Adams should get the award for the Noble Peace Prize because he tried to make peace with France twice with a peace treaty. He didn’t even give into pressure. His mates didn’t agree so John Adams fired them.
The other three didn’t have the same peace thought and would ever make a peace treaty with France.

For various reasons, I think John Adams should get the Nobel Peace Prize. I think he should receive the prize because he tried to make peace with France two times. He didn't give in to peer pressure when going to war with France and fired the two cabinet members of his own cabinet who went against him, the United States, and France. The other three choices weren't thinking the same thought of peace thought as John Adams and wouldn't have settled it as cleanly as John Adams.

John Adams should be nominated for the Nobel Prize because of various reasons. One reason he should get the Nobel Prize is because he protected the United States from declaring a war with France, and instead tried his best to reunite the two countries. He said many people to France to have a talk and end the fight. Thomas Jefferson and James Madison viewed these acts as a misuse of the government power. I dont think that is strong enough for either on them to be nominated for the Nobel Prize. They also found the Democratic Republican Party, it was to limit the Federal government. They did alot of things that helped us but i still think that John Adams deserves tha Nobel Prize.

Many leaders in our previous generations were succesful and some had brought peace. If they could do it when they didn't have all this technology to help them, then why can't our modern leaders do it even better with technology? John Adams was intelligent, hard working, and honesty. He was a very well and respected man. He has done incredible deeds to be able to earn the Nobel Peace Prize. Adams had tried to make peace but the French got to selfish and drove Congress mad to a point where they want to start war. Adams though didn't want to but just expand the Navy and eventually they signed a Peace Treaty.
Washington has ended a deadly war, Alexander Hamilton was president of treasury, Thomas Jefferson was secretary of state.
The perfect one for the Nobel PeacePrize is John Adams.I think this because it was incredible of how he stopped a war before it started. This is very noble and he made peace with France. This is very heroic to save tons of lives from a war.

In the textbook, George Washington became the first president of the United States and Alexander Hamilton helped found the Federalist Party which wanted a strong federal government and supported the industry and trade. Thomas Jefferson believed in serious assembly of the Constitution.
John Adams should be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize because he improved the relationship between the United States and France. He didn't want France to have war with the United States. John Adams wanted peace with France and had them sign a peace treaty. I think he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize. This is why John Adams should be nominated for the Noble Peace Prize,

Out of all of the four nominees, I think John Adams should receive the Noble Peace Prize. John Adams didn't want to be part of any violence. He didn't want ant fighting that is not reasonable. He tried to unite the United States and France together two times even though he was given pressure. Two members of John Adams's cabinet was fired because they went against him. With all the pressure, some people thought that a war was going to break out. But it didn't and this saved many lives and money. He had changed alot of things and that is why I think he should be nominated for the Noble Peace Prize.

I think John Adams should get the Nobel Piece prize because he was calm and was full of violence. He tried to make piece with a country that was very violent two times. The country was France. I think he might have a personal saying that "Being nice will get you to your goal." Being violent will get you into trouble." He was the best out of the 4 nominees. he just didn't care about himself, he also cared about the whole entire nation not just him, friends, and family like most of them do.

Thomas Jefferson should have won the nobel peace prize. He was the secratery of state. Jefferson fought over how the country's economy should grow. Jefferson worried too much on business and manufactuary. He believed in strict construction of the constitution. Jefferson believed that Hamilton's plans for the economy gave too much power to the federal government.

In pages 234-253 in the text book I read about John Adams, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton. They all had various ideas on how to run the country. They were all great leaders. I would nominate George Washington for Nobel peace prize because he tolled Ambassador Thomas Pinckney to meet and discus the problem in an orderly manner. Also, he wanted to prevent a war with the British so he sent John Jay to London to work it out and compromise the disputes that the U.S and Great Brittan had in the early 1790’s. This is why I think George Washington should be nominated for Nobel Peace Prize.

I would like to nominate John Adams. He tried very hard to make peace with France. And even when things looked bad he didn't give up. In fact he did just the opposite. When times got hard he tried even harder. And in the end his hard work paid off. Even with the pressure of a possible war he still didn't give up. That is why I would like to nominate John Adams

The noble peace prize is about being peacefull and bringing peace to ones nation. I think that the person to be nominated for the noble peace prize is to be John Adams. I have a very good reason for this. It is that Adams is a peace-maker. For instance, Adams seeked peace with France 2 times until finally getting France to sign a peace treaty and he did all this in a calm and peaceful manner(without going into war with France). He also let nothing stand in his way of reaching his goal. The two members of his cabinet that went aganist him, he fired. This is why I think he should have a nomination.

Out of all four candidates for the Nobel Peace prize, I would choose John Adams. He had a hard task of following Washington in presidency. He worked hard to gain the citizens trust. Adams tried to make a treaty with France, but they favored England. He sent diplomats to negociate and end the conflict. He fought (not physically, mentally) with France until they agreed to sign the treaty. Two of his members of the cabinet had to resign, because they decided to start war with France despite what Adams said. In the end, France signed the treaty.

He had a hard task to follow Washington's presidency, but he succeded. He seemed cold and harsh at first glance, but, as time went on, the citizzens recpected him and recognized his hard work, honesty, and intelligence. These are the reasons why John Adams should be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.

I think that the Nobel Peace Prize should go to John Adans. Everybody thought that he was not suited for presidency but they were wrong! He had been leading the Patroits during the American Revolution and served as a forgeign diplomat. Although he lacked Washington's dignity he still deserves this award. I think he is not a cold and distant person. I think hes a great man and thats why i think that he deserves this Nobel Peace Prize.

John Adams deserves to recieve the Noble Peace Prize. I feel this way because this award is all about peace and this is exactly what John Adams was about. One of his first goals as president was to iprove the relationship between the U.S and France. He also made France sign a peace treaty.
John Adams, George Washington,Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson all had different ideas on how the country should be run. Alexander Hamilton was for trade and industry. Thomas Jefferson wanted to construct the constitution better. They don't get nominated because I feel that they really don't help make peace. So this is why I think John Adams deserves to get the Nobel Peace Prize.

I would like to nominate John Adams for the Nobel Peace Prize because his achievments earned him the award. This award brought peace to him and others. This includes George Washington, who also made peace between America and France. During these times, many people thought that war was going to break out, and John still didnt give into peer pressure. When John gave the idea of signing the treaty, 2 of his members of the cabinet stood up against it. He had them both fired.
Thankfully John Adams did not declare war by making France sign a peace treaty, but during the signing, the 2 fired members tryed to intervine but that didn't stop John Adams at all. I think all of John Adam's achievements earn him the Nobel Peace Prize.
