Jackie Situ wrote about the cycle of poverty. He questions oil companies huge profits in the face of rising unemployment, "If I was a working man, I would not want to lose my job." Jackie is smart to look at economic inequalities, all good historians do.
In 1492, why did the Western Europeans set sail to conquer the world and not the Native Americans, Asians or Africans? The Answer is not that Europeans were smarter, better looking or that God loved them more. The answer is in economic inequalities.
Your assignment is to focus on one of the advantages Europe had in 1492 or on one of the disadvantages facing Native Americans or African. Write about this single advantage or disadvantage: the how and why it lead to European ascendancy. Refer to your class notes, the textbook may or may not be useful I suggest pages 22 - 65, and the videos below are for college level but you may get much out of it. Comment Due Tuesday October 7th.

Western Europeans set sail to conquer the world and not the Native Americans, Africans, or Asains. This is because the Spaniards which is part of Western Europe fought with more complex weapons and wanted to take control of the New World. Native Americans lived in the new world. The Spaniards determined that gold and silver were believed to be abundant in the land called th "New World."
One disadvantage the Native Americans had while the Europeans took over the new world, to get its riches, abundant in gold and silver. Was when they came over to conquer the land, the Europeans brought with them new diseases. The natives did not have a strong enough immune system or medicine effective enough to repel the diseases which proved lethal. Killing and weakening many, allowing the Europeans to easily defeat the natives and conquer the land.
Europeans set t sail to conquer the world and not the Native Americans, Asians, or Africans because of economic inequalities. one adavantage that the europeans had were inventions. Sailors began to use tools such as the magectic compass and the astrolabe. Instuments made it possible for sailor to travel and open doors to conquer the world. Europeans had many rich crops that they could use to trade for better and vaulable things to defeat the others and rule the world. Some crops that they had were almonds, cabbage, wheat, rice, and carrots. they can trade for thing like weapons to beat others.
Europeans had control of the new world in 1491. They did because they had more domesticated animals which helped them farm. They then had more free time on their hands which would lead to more inventions. And civilizations who had inventions had more populations growth.
The main disadvantage the Native Americans had was the diseases the Europeans brought with them to the "New World". Such as smallpox, measles' the flu, etc. The Europeans said in journals that they "were killed by the wrath of god" or something like that. This made it eaiser for the Europeans to conquer or kill the Native Americans and conquer the "New World".
A disadvantage the Native Americans had was that when the Europeans sailed to the “New World” they brought their domesticated farm animals with them. These domesticated animals carried diseases such as smallpox, measles, the flu, and etc. The Native Americans were weakened, and therefore they were not able to defend their land when the Europeans arrived. Many of the Native Americans died so this gave the Europeans a great advantage over them.
Europeans conquered the world becouse they had an advantage on their economy.Other places like Asia, Africa, and the native americans didn't have a good economy like the europeans. They had many crops. When they came to "the new world",the Europeans brought technologies, ideas, plants, and animals that were new to America and would transform peoples' lives.they brought guns, iron tools, and weapons; Christianity and Roman law; sugarcane and wheat; horses and cattle. The bad thing they brought was diseases against which the Indian peoples had no defenses. The Europeans also had colonies to conquer "the new world".
Western Europeans had an advantage going to the "new world" because of the economy and advanced civilization and materials compared to the Native Americans that were in the "new world" when they started to make their move to conquer. The rest of the Africans, Asians, or Indians didn't set sail unlike some of the Western European nations did. The Western Europeans believed that there was abundant amounts of gold and silver. Economy and money most likely drove the Western Europeans to go to the "new world" to get these materials (gold and silver).
When the Europeans arrived to North America, they had diseases with them. Since the Native Americans are not immune to them, they suffer from the sickness. Some diseases the Europeans brought are measles, small pox and the flu. Because of this, they were too weak to protect their land. This was the main disadvantage for the Native Americans.
Western Europeans were the ones who set sail to conquer the world. The Native Americans, Asians, and Africans didn't get there first, because of economic inequalities. The Europeans conquered the Native Americans, because of the diseases they brought with them. Since the Europeans had numerous domestic animals (pigs, sheep, goats, and cattle), new and deadly viruses came from them. The Black Death, smallpox, cowpox, measles and additional diseases killed the Native Americans, who had no anti-bodies in their immune system to fend these viruses off. Their ancestors didn’t have the right anti-bodies to develop the cures for years and years. Lucky for the Europeans, since they were pelted with ongoing sicknesses, their immune systems were stronger, protecting them from the Native Americans illnesses.
One disadvantage for the Native Americans was that when Europeans had traded the items and animals sometimes it contained dangerous diseases. There was the small pox, the flu, syphili, and the measles, along with some other diseases.
A disadvantage for the Native Americans was when the Europeans traveled to North America. With them the brought diseases. Some diseases were the small, pox measles and the flu.Animals would also have germs or diseases that gave humans the diseases. If the humans had these diseases they wouldn’t have time to create new inventions.
The Major disadvantage that Native Americans had was that the Europeans brought diseases to the “New World. Some of the diseases were flu, smallpox, and measles. The illnesses made it easier for Europeans to conquer the Native Americans, in the “New World”. The reason why it was easier is because the Native Americans never had these diseases so they don’t know how to fight off the diseases. Many Native Americans were sick or died from the new diseases.
In 1491 Europeans had the advantage because they gave the Native Americans diseases which they weren't immune too. So some died and had bad sickness out of it. Also the Europeans had inventions they made. Sailors started to use tools such as magectic compass and the astrolabe. With these instrument it made it possible for sailors to travel and open doors to conquer the world. They had rich crops which is good for trading and have more stuff to rule the world and help the people. They have crops which they could trade for weapons.
The major disadvantage the Native Americans had was the diseases the Europeans brought when they came to North America. The Native Americans were not used to these diseases so they got sick and died. Two examples of these diseases are small pox and measles. Since the Native Americans were dying and the Europeans were growing they were able to get an advantage.
Luis said,“Europeans conquered the world becouse they had an advantage on their economy.Other places like Asia, Africa, and the native americans didn't have a good economy like the europeans. My question is, are you implying that the European invasion had its benefits for the native populations since they brought the advanced technologies, the ideas, the new crops?
Some of the disadvantages for the Native Americans is that the Eurpeans took over the new world. They had complete control over the new world. The Eurpeans brought domesticated farm animals to the new world after they conquered it. It became hard for the Native Americans because the Eurpeans also took most of the land and Nativa Americans had really nothing left.
